Getting from A to B just got a whole lot easier with Tamworth Regional Council today launching the Northern Tablelands portal of the MyRoadInfo app and website.

The free online information hub includes the latest updates from Council and the RMS, providing residents and visitors to the region with localised information at their fingertips allowing them to make informed decisions when travelling on the road.

MyRoadInfo is currently being used by seventeen Councils across three regions including the North West Slopes, Northern Rivers and the Mid North Coast areas. The addition of the Northern Tablelands portal widens the area of coverage, making it easier for local residents to access up-to-date information not only when travelling locally, but also when planning longer trips across different council boundaries.

Tamworth Regional Council Manager Infrastructure and Projects, Murray Russell, said Council identified the need for a service which provided the latest road information in one central place.

“MyRoadInfo is a one-stop-shop where motorists can access information about road closures and delays due to accidents, storms, flooding and roadworks," he said. "The website and app are interactive, allowing Council to upload new information as soon as it becomes available.

“Before embarking on a road trip, motorists can check their proposed route and immediately see any road closures or delays that will affect their trip.

“One of the exciting features of the app is that residents can nominate up to 10 favourite roads, which they might travel on regularly, and they will receive automatic notifications directly to their phone or tablet about any road closures or delays that may be affecting those particular roads.”

Deputy Mayor Phil Betts said MyRoadInfo is another great example of Council’s commitment to improving customer service and using technology to do so.

“Council is always looking for ways to connect and inform the community.," he said. "Together with our existing Council app MyTRC and our online Development Hub, MyRoadInfo is just another way we are putting council information at your fingertips."

Residents can access the website and download the free MyRoadInfo app from the Council website

The app is also available for download from the iTunes app store and Google Play.
