Yeppoon will be one of 350 cities across six continents to screen the 21st annual Manhattan Short Film Festival next weekend!
Nine short films will screen more than 1000 times and the judges of these films are you, the audience.
This film festival, hosted by Livingstone Shire Council on Friday, 28 September, will be held at the Yeppoon Town Hall, where the final nine short films will be screened representing the best among an impressive 1,565 submissions from a total of 73 countries.
These films are a testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of the short film genre, representing an extraordinary range of film genres with comedy, drama, horror, sci-fi, animation and martial arts.
But which of these nine short films will take the title of best at show? That’s up to you to decide.
Audiences worldwide will become instant film critics as they vote for the Best Short Film and Best Actor after viewing all nine films.
Councillor for Library, Arts and Culture Pat Eastwood said Manhattan Short is not a touring festival; rather, it is an instantaneous celebration that occurs simultaneously across the globe, bringing great films to great venues and allowing the audiences to select their favourites.
“Events like this give our region the opportunity to access and enjoy a global experience right here in our own backyard which is very exciting,” Cr Eastwood said.
“It’s important to nurture the artistic and creative side of our community and by bringing worldwide initiatives like this to our residents, it allows like-minded members of the region to come together to enjoy and appreciate a diverse range of arts and entertainment.”
The 21st Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival opens from 7pm, starting at 7.30pm, is Rated M and tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for Concession.
