Weekend sportspeople, spectators and school students will now be better protected from the elements with Rosford Park grandstand in Smithfield sporting a new cover.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the grandstand cover was part of Council’s ongoing commitment to upgrading sporting fields across the City.
“Up to 800 people can now take cover from the sun or rain when watching their team or children participating in their sporting event, whether it is football, soccer, athletics or cricket,” Mayor Carbone said.
“The grandstand cover adds to the sporting and recreation precinct we have created at Rosford Park.
“This is on top of the recently installed 500-metre walking path to give residents more opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.
“The path connects to an existing walkway near the grandstand, and adds to the almost 1000 km of existing paths and cycle ways across the City.
“Another improvement was the installation of a Sydney Water refill station that park users can use to refill water bottles easily. It also has a bubbler and a ‘dog-bowl’ feature where dogs on leads can easily access fresh water.”
