Spring is here, the nights are warmer, so now is a perfect time to dust off the folding chairs, find the picnic blanket and take the family along to watch the award winning Disney movie ‘COCO’ under the stars.
Toowoomba Regional Councils Environment and Community Chair Cr Geoff
Mc Donald said “Council is committed to supporting the youth in our communities ensuring they have opportunities to be involved and access to a wide range of low cost programs, events and services.
“Starting early October and over the next couple of months Council in conjunction with local community groups will be hosting movie nights under the stars, screening the multi awarded Disney movie ‘COCO’ at various locations throughout the region” Cr McDonald said.
This is a fun, highly imaginative and original tale that introduces us to the Rivera family who makes shoes for a living. Everyone in the family absolutely despises anything related to music except for little Miguel Rivera, who shines shoes but aspires to be a musician.
Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey that enters the colourful ‘Land of the Dead’ to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history and who his family really is.
Cr Mc Donald said “Movie nights like this offer an ideal opportunity for all the family to come along, enjoy and have a fun night together and at the same time support your local community groups who will be selling food and drink on the night.”
Movie screening starts at 7.00pm and entry is free. Children under 12 must be supervised by parents and or an adult and a canteen will operate at the venues.
