Western Downs Regional Council is pleased to announce that $25,000 in funding has been secured through the Queensland Government’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

This funding will be used to encourage activities that enhance the artistic and cultural vibe of the region.

The possibilities in the public artspace are varied and may include digital artforms, sewing, mosaics, 3D and ceramics as these are all events that contribute to our region’s rich artistic fabric.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said that Council was thrilled to have qualified for funding.

“This funding brings some much-needed financial support to our region, including our popular galleries and museums,” Cr Maguire said.

Cr Maguire said that the funding may also incorporate new projects, workshops, placemaking, scoping out projects and other events that bring the community closer to the arts and culture space

. “I’d like to encourage both individuals and groups to consider applying for funding for their projects during the next round of Council funding that will be opening in November and closing Tuesday 5 February.”

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through the RADF strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.

“RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Western Downs Regional Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils statewide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,” Ms Enoch said.
