The Western Downs annual Santa Gertrudis stud sale featured the best of the best sold at the Dalby Saleyards on Saturday 15 September.

The second annual Santa Gertrudis stud sale had 72 bulls available for purchase by beef producers from New South Wales and Southern Queensland.

Spokesperson for Council Facilities Councillor Ray Brown said the annual Santa Gertrudis bull sales showcase the events Council facilities support.

“It’s really great that we have these facilities in the Western Downs that can host events like the Western Downs Santa Gertrudis Stud sale,” Cr Brown said.

“When we have occasions like the stud sale, it’s not only highlighting the outstanding beef industry we have in our region but also showing what our facilities can do.

“We have such a great opportunity to export our quality livestock around the world from the Dalby Saleyards thanks to our European Union accreditation.

“This facility allows us to host independent sales as we did this past weekend for the Western Downs Santa Group but also weekly store and fat sales and EUCAS sales.”

The Dalby Saleyards have been operational for more than 75 years and sell over 200,000 head through their yards each year contributing around $250 million to the economy.
