Of the 15 council actions to address the recommendations, 13 have been complete, while one is in progress and one action is ongoing.
At Tuesday Council Meeting, Councillors voted to cease monthly reporting on the Work Plan/Action Plan, which has been in place since August 2017 and build the ongoing actions into the new CEO’s work plan.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Allan Bawden said feedback from the Minister was a positive outcome following 12 months of hard work by Council.
“Minister Kairouz has been kept up to date by the Municipal Monitor, Janet Dore, on a monthly basis and that will continue through to August 2019,” he said.
“She has been very pleased on the progress made by Council to embed good governance across the entire organisation and the completion of Council’s action plan to address the Commission of Inquiry recommendations.
“The Minister also highlighted the appointment of Dr Tim Harrison as the new Chief Executive Officer as an important long-term decision made by the Council.”
Dr Harrison will commence his new role at Ararat Rural City Council on October 1.
A final report regarding recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry will be delivered in the 2018-19 Annual Report.
