Members of the Bayside community can get up close to the political candidates in the upcoming state election at the Bayside Meet the Candidates Forums in late October.
Bayside City Council is holding the two forums to provide an opportunity to hear from the candidates on the issues that matter to Bayside.
Bayside Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans said Council had invited candidates to attend the forums on 25 October for Brighton/Bentleigh Districts and 31 October for the Sandringham District and Southern Metropolitan Region.
“Council has an important role to play in advocating on behalf of our community. This includes providing opportunities to bring the candidates and community together”, he said.
“We are talking to all parties and independents in the lead up to the 24 November election on the key priorities for our municipality including funding for new netball and basketball facilities, better bus services, action on recycling and waste, stronger height limits in major activity centres and better public and affordable housing.”
“I encourage community members to come along and hear from the candidates, in particular the 1,300 young people who will vote for the first time in this election”, he said.
