Eurobodalla Council is preparing to install a new pressure sewage system in Potato Point.

The system will replace individual sewage management systems on each property, such as septic tanks.

Pressure System Solutions Pty Ltd is designing the system for Council and will soon begin visiting Potato Point properties to inform the plans.

Pump units will need to be installed on each property to enable transportation of sewage to the new Bodalla Sewage Treatment Plant.

The scheme will also involve the construction of a new Sewage Pump Station, proposed to be built next to the Rural Fire Service shed.

Residents have the opportunity to learn more about the scheme at a drop-in information session at the Potato Point Rural Fire Service shed on Monday 8 October, 3-7pm.

Components to be installed on each property will be on display and representatives from Council, Pressure System Solutions and Mono Pumps will be available to discuss the project.

The Potato Point Sewerage Scheme was identified in Council’s long-term water and sewer strategic plan and is funded by a $3.33 million grant from the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Regional Water and Waste Water Program.

Member for Bega Andrew Constance said the program was part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensuring regional communities had access to safe and reliable water and wastewater services.

“This is a modern wastewater management facility which will allow Potato Point to grow sustainably into the future and I look forward to it taking shape,” he said.

Construction is expected to begin by mid-2019 and it is hoped the scheme will be operational by mid-2020.

It follows similar sewerage schemes installed at Rosedale and Guerilla Bay in recent years and a new pressure sewerage system at Bodalla, which is expected to operational by the end of the year.
