This year’s Victorian Seniors Festival program line up will see a range of entertainment, adventure and fun-focused activities across sport and the arts in Campaspe Shire from 7 – 14 October.
Campaspe Shire Community Care Manager Janelle Wheatley said the Victorian Seniors Festival is an opportunity to celebrate community elders and their valuable contribution to society with much planned over the week.
“Seniors Week is a time to provide our senior citizens with the opportunity to learn new skills and try different things, keeping them active within the community,” Ms Wheatley said.
This year’s theme is Get Social and that’s exactly the opportunity available to seniors in this year’s jam packed program line up.
The feature event to conclude the festival is the annual Seniors Festival’s Country Concert at the Paramount Cinemas and Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, 18 October at 1.30pm. ‘Rubber Soul’ is the headline and will recreate the atmosphere and energy of a Beatles concert, playing the hits like She Loves You, Please Please Me, Day Tripper and other classics like Strawberry Fields, I am the Walrus, Get Back and Hey Jude.
Other events over the busy week include calligraphy, social croquet, aquatic events, historic guided tours, computer skills sessions, legal and financial sessions.
Festival Programs have been produced, containing details of events and special senior’s discounts across Campaspe Shire during Seniors Week. Participating businesses include the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre, Echuca Paddlesteamers, Echuca Historical Society, Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre (EWMAC), Campaspe Regional Library Service and council’s Planned Activity Group.
“Events are free or low-cost and free public transport will be available for Seniors Card holders from 7 to 14 October,” Ms Wheatley said.
Copies of the Campaspe Seniors Festival program booklet can be collected from council’s customer service centres, Campaspe libraries, Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre, senior citizens clubs or from council’s website. Copies can also be sent out by calling 1300 666 535 and registering your details.
