On Sunday 21 October 2018, Council will host a public launch of an Artist Board to honour the work and celebrate the life of cartoonist and illustrator Ron Tandberg.
The launch will be held on the Ferry to Pier boardwalk, between the Queenscliff Harbour and the Queenscliff Pier, from 11:00am, followed by refreshments at the Queenscliff Pavilion.
“Ron Tandberg was a much-loved and admired member of our community,” said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Cr Susan Salter.
“His work made a huge contribution to our nation’s culture.”
“Council is very proud to present a new Artist Board to honour Ron’s life and work. Everyone in the community is invited to celebrate with us at the upcoming launch,” said Cr Salter.
“Please join us afterwards for coffee, tea and biscuits in the Pavilion.”
The Ron Tandberg Artist Board will become part of the Arts Trail that runs through Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff highlighting the works of celebrated artists and photographers who have visited the region and captured the local landscape.
An exhibition of Ron’s work, including a series of short videos of Ron discussing the creation of his famous caricatures, will be on display in the Queenscliff Library from Friday 5 October until Saturday 27 October.
