Council’s Japanese Sister City Takatsuki is celebrating its 75th year as a municipality and what could be a more fitting way to celebrate than a festival.
Mayor Cr Paul Antonio said “As part of the celebrations, our sister city has invited two local under twelve groups, Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School (TACAPS Year 3) and Toowoomba Art Society Primary Class, to participate in the Takatsuki Art Festival being held 1 – 30 November 2018”.
“The Takatsuki Art Festival will feature a Large Scale Artwork Exhibition including artwork from our local art students. Canvases and artwork will take pride of place in the Exhibition to be hung from the ceiling of the Takatsuki shopping mall and various other locations across the city.
“The Takatsuki Art Festival’s aim is to stimulate the community’s activities and to discover and nurture local young talent.
“Takatsuki is similar to Toowoomba Region in that we are a vibrant and welcoming region built on rich traditions matched by bold ambitions for a prosperous future” Mayor Antonio said.
“Takatsuki, like Toowoomba is evolving and becoming more widely recognised as an ‘art city’. Both cities play host to many arts and cultural activities and events.
“It is an honour for our young students to be invited and given the opportunity to be involved.
“With their young imaginative minds and artistic talent I am sure these works of art from our local children will create a lot of interest and provide a wonderful experience and memories that they can treasure for a lifetime” Mayor Antonio said.
“The theme for this year’s artworks was ‘what do I wish to be realised in the future’.
