Chaplin collection an Australian-first
AlburyCity News 21 Sep 2018

Capturing Charlie: Collecting a Cinema Icon features hundreds of Chaplin items - including posters, postcards, stamps books, dolls and more - charting the life of the star of more than 80 movies between 1914 and 1967.

The collection has been gathered by Chaplin enthusiast Paddy MacDonald, who spent time with the Chaplin family and was inspired in childhood by the British actor’s films.

Chaplin is celebrated as a giant of early Hollywood but is also remembered as a comedian, composer and humanitarian.

The exhibition will be launched on Friday evening. The public is invited to attend but bookings are essential.

Capturing Charlie will be on display from 22 September to 18 November.

The exhibition is part of Albury’s inaugural Charlie Chaplin Festival which includes a film screening, talks and tours, and a Guinness World Record attempt for the most Chaplin impersonators ever gathered in one place.
