The new playspace at Belgrave South Recreation Reserve was recently completed by Council.
The playspace includes all new playground equipment including a climbing net, slide, double springer, basket swing and nature play elements including log steppers.
Council contributed $102,000 and the State Government’s Sport and Recreation Victoria has provided $100,000. Cr Mike Clarke said feedback from families and children in the area had been overwhelmingly positive.
“The playspace, landscaping and seating is well designed using timber in a natural setting which makes the children feel at home among the trees,” Cr Mike said.
“There are simple and complex obstacles for them to negotiate which they’re enjoying.
“It’s a step up from the more basic style of playspace that was here before.”
Belgrave South Primary School Grade 2 student Asha said she liked the fact the playspace was larger and the equipment was spread out.
Grade 2 Student Elliot said his favourite part was the slide.
“It’s even better than the last one,” he said. Location: 3/10-12 Gilmore Court, Belgrave South, Belgrave South.
