Cessnock City Council has been forced to call off Spring Awakening 2018 due to wet and windy weather conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology advised Cessnock City Council that during the afternoon on Friday Cessnock is likely to experience both wind and rain.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is disappointed this wonderful community event is cancelled but said our local producers are desperate for rain.
“It’s a tough call but we need to ensure community members are kept safe and this would be extremely difficult with the current weather predictions.”
“We know there will be many disappointed community members on hearing the announcement today and I too share this disappointment.”
Council is already looking forward to Spring Awakening 2019 and there’s no doubt it will be an even bigger and better event.
