Tim Faulkner ‘Our Bushland’ videos launched

Cessnock City Council is running a campaign to raise awareness about the significance of our local bushland and has just launched two videos featuring wildlife legend Tim Faulkner.  

Tim Faulkner is the General Manager and Head of Conservation at the Australian Reptile Park in Somersby and the Devil Ark at Barrington Tops. He also has his own show on National Geographic, ‘The Wild Life of Tim Faulkner’.  

Tim paid a visit to our local bushland recently and teamed up with Mick Roderick from BirdLife Australia to produce two short films, one to highlight the significance of the area to potential visitors and the other to show the impact of illegal dumping and logging.    

Tim said he had a great experience while he was here and that the people of Cessnock are fortunate to have this on their doorstep.

“There is so much crucial habitat for rare and endangered wildlife and it is fantastic that Council is getting behind the awareness-raising through the ‘Our Bushland’ project,” said Tim.   

The videos can now be viewed via Council’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/CessnockCityCouncil.  

Residents also have the chance to explore our local bushland for themselves at the free BioBlitz event coming up at Poppet Head Park, Kitchener from 9am to 2pm on Sunday 9 September.   

The event features guided walks, fun activities for the kids, displays and food stalls and is guaranteed to be a fun day out for the whole family.
