Adult Learners’ Week 2018 takes place from 1 to 8 September and to celebrate, Kurri Kurri Library will host a free talk with Gavin Morris from 10am on Thursday 6 September.
The theme for Adult Learners’ Week 2018 is ‘Learning changes lives’ which promotes the idea that learning as an adult can help people turn their lives around and be a transformative and happy experience.
Gavin Morris is one of the Hunter region’s favourite personalities and an inspiring life-long learner. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, para-glides regularly and has sailed a hundred year old square rigger half way around the globe.
Many might also know Gavin as the much-loved NBN Weatherman who broadcasts into our lounge rooms most evenings. His passion is the atmosphere and all things connected to it.
Cessnock City Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters is encouraging residents to come along and hear Gavin’s inspiring story.
“Some eight million Australians learn for work or pleasure each year and our libraries are a great place to get inspired to become a life-long learner like Gavin.”
This is a free event with morning tea provided and bookings are essential. Reserve your spot today by calling the Kurri Kurri Library team on 4937 1638.
