One of Council’s priorities is to create a sustainable future for our Region through the maintenance of our infrastructure. Some of our key actions, as outlined in the Corporate Plan 2018 – 2023, is to focus on improving maintenance of our infrastructure.
To ensure we reach our goals, Council is currently reviewing our policies around maintenance standards and levels of service. As part of these reviews, we need to consider community expectations and available resources.
To be sustainable, we need to be realistic about what can be achieved with our current human resources and funding available.
As our regional Council area covers more than 68,000km2, it has thousands of kilometres of roads that need to be maintained which come at significant cost.
Our roads, footpaths, parks, sporting fields and bushland reserves are all inspected to ensure we are meeting our maintenance standards and levels of service.
Between these inspections, sometimes a maintenance issue arises. If this happens, the community can let Council know of an issue. One of the easiest ways to report an issue is by using the free app - “Snap Send Solve.”
Sometimes, an issue may not be resolved in the way you might expect Council to respond. This might be, because the issue may not meet the intervention levels as part of the maintenance standards.
However, if you are in doubt and you see a problem, let Council know. It can be as simple as snapping a photo and adding some details on the Snap Send Solve app. Or contact Council to fill in a customer request.
