The Centre and surrounds are being transformed through a $26m redevelopment project which will further cement its reputation as a premier sport and recreation destination in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

YMCA SA was successful in their tender for the management of the Centre due to their extensive experience in delivering recreational and leisure services with a strong community focus. They are committed to providing high quality programs and services that are tailored to the demographics and needs of local communities.

“YMCA SA have demonstrated they are strong community leaders and we look forward to a collaborative relationship with them to deliver an exceptional recreation centre that provides our community with access to first-rate sporting, fitness and leisure programs,” Mayor Angela Evans said.

“There has already been significant interest in the Centre as a venue for national sporting events and the opportunities to attract visitors to Charles Sturt through this facility are endless.”

YMCA SA will work closely with existing clubs and stakeholders who have a long history in using St Clair including Woodville High School and Woodville Warriors Basketball Club.

The six-court stadium, the largest in South Australia, includes a 24/7 gymnasium, café, function and meeting rooms, and roller skating rink. The City of Charles Sturt immunisation service will also be relocated to the Centre in November. The Office of Recreation and Sport and the Department of Education contributed $7.5m and $4m respectively to the redevelopment.
