Town of Claremont appoints new CEO

Following a comprehensive selection process over the past months, Mayor Jock Barker and Council are pleased to announce Ms Liz Ledger as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Claremont.

The Town of Claremont resolved to appoint Ms Ledger as its Chief Executive Officer at its Special Meeting of Council held last night, 14 June 2018.

Mayor Barker said the Elected Members unanimously chose Ms Ledger as the preferred candidate as she had the skill set required to take the Town of Claremont forward and help the community achieve its goals and objectives.

“The role of CEO is vital to our future vision for the Town,” Mayor Barker said. “Council is very confidant Ms Ledger is the ideal candidate with her experience and enthusiasm, and will continue driving this Council and the Town’s initiatives forward.”

“Ms Ledger understands the expectations of elected members and the community and she will do a terrific job leading this Town.”

Ms Ledger has worked in local government for over 25 years and has been interim CEO for the Town of Claremont since the retirement of CEO Mr Stephen Goode in June 2017.

Prior to this, Ms Ledger was the Executive Manager of People and Places for four years with the Town, delivering initiatives to support community connection and engagement, and steering the Town’s strategic planning process.

Ms Ledger said she was excited to lead the organisation and continue building the Town as a leading boutique local government.

“I’m thrilled to be able to continue in this position, working with Council to provide the best outcomes for our community,” Ms Ledger said.

Ms Ledger will officially commence in the role on 1 July 2018 under a five-year contract.   Back To News Stories
