Call Out for Bellingen Riverwatch Volunteers

Bellingen Riverwatch is currently calling for more volunteers. This unique citizen science project sees volunteer community scientists working together with the scientific community to support the recovery of the Bellinger River Snapping Turtle.

Volunteers will be involved in collecting monthly water quality data and will receive full training and support.  This is a unique opportunity to learn new skills and support critical, ongoing research.  Find out more at www.ozgreen.org.au/bellingen_riverwatch or register your interest with [email protected].

Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Dominic King said, “Our waterways are used extensively for recreation and tourism as well as being a source of food and drinking water. It is vital that we keep our rivers healthy especially given the low rainfall we have been experiencing.  This is a great opportunity to get the whole family involved while having fun and learning new skills.”

Bellingen Riverwatch is a joint project between OzGreen, NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, Bellingen Shire Council, NSW Office of Local Land Services, Taronga Zoo, Western Sydney University, EcoLogical Australia, Earthwatch Institute, Bellinger Landcare Incorporated, Jaliigir Biodiversity Alliance and Waterwatch NSW.
