Wollongong City Councillors re-elected Councillor David Brown as Deputy Lord Mayor for the next 12 months at last night’s Council meeting.
The role of the Deputy Lord Mayor is to exercise any function of the Lord Mayor at his request, or if the Lord Mayor is prevented by illness, absence or otherwise from exercising this function.
Last night’s meeting was also the last for Councillor Chris Connor, who is vacating his seat after seven years of service to Council.
Councillor Connor tendered his resignation after a move to Tamworth, which he said has made it difficult for him to properly represent his constituents.
His resignation has triggered a by-election in Ward 3. Residents in this Ward will head to the polls on Saturday 24 November 2018. If you’d like to know more, including details of Ward boundaries, visit Council’s website or contact Customer Service on (02) 4227 7111.
