The Seniors Social and Wellbeing Program is targeted to people aged 60 and over and consists of social and physical activities that are conducted under the watchful eye of fitness professionals from the Aqua Jetty.
In May 2018 the program was first delivered to seniors at the Golden Bay Coastal Community Centre and now seniors in Baldivis have the chance to join in the program which is hosted at the Baldivis Recreation Centre.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the program was a fantastic way for seniors to boost their fitness in a friendly environment.
“Following the feedback we received from a survey for seniors living in Baldivis, the City is proud to introduce the Seniors Social and Wellbeing Program to Baldivis,” Mayor Sammels said.
“The growth of the program in Golden Bay and the demand for it in Baldivis indicates seniors in the City value the chance to get fit, both physically and mentally.
“The exercise professionals from the Aqua Jetty specialise in senior health and fitness, so there’s no better place to improve your health and form some great relationships along the way.”
The program in Baldivis is currently offered to the community free of charge on a trial basis.
“I encourage any interested seniors to join in the fun and see what it’s all about,” Mayor Sammels said.
The program runs from 10am – 11.30am on Mondays and 9am – 10.30am on Wednesdays at the Baldivis Recreation Centre on Fifty Road.
