Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to discover the Gold Coast’s most biodiverse areas.

Gold Coast families are encouraged to explore the City’s natural environment, with children invited to challenge themselves across 11 nature-based missions included in the Gold Coast Nature Passport.    Economy, Planning and Environment Committee Chair, Councillor Cameron Caldwell, said the initiative is a fantastic way to get children outdoors during the school holidays.

“Gold Coast kids can swap screen time for green time and enjoy an active learning experience,” said Cr Caldwell.

“Missions will take families on a journey across the Gold Coast to discover places they may not have known about previously.

“Programs such as the Gold Coast Nature Passport are vital to encouraging our children to experience and learn about the Gold Coast’s unique biodiversity”.

Nature Play Queensland Program Manager, Hyahno Moser, said they are excited about working in partnership with City of Gold Coast to develop a passport exclusively for the region.

“The passport helps inspire children to reconnect with nature through unstructured play and outdoor learning, which is fundamental to a full and healthy childhood, including cognitive, social and emotional development” said Mr Moser.

“By developing a Gold Coast specific passport, we’re shaping the development and future of Gold Coast kids”.
