Share your environmental and waste minimisation success stories by entering Campaspe’s WICKED (Waste In Campaspe – Know, Educate, Do) sustainability awards competition.
With this year’s theme being ‘conserving our environment’, the competition acknowledges and rewards those in our community who take care of the environment and seek to conserve our planet and its resources for future generations.
Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the competition is open to kindergartens, child care centres and schools in Campaspe and Moama as well as individuals, community groups, businesses and industries in the Campaspe Shire.
“The competition is now in its fourth year with previous winners showing creativity and ingenuity in working towards a more environmentally sustainable future,” Cr Weston said.
Some ideas for submissions addressing the theme include:
Planting native trees and habitat for animals Implementing special recycling programs Artwork and sculptures created using repurposed items Energy efficient, or water saving upgrades to your home, business or school Resource recovery and waste minimisation programs Composting and worm farms Litter prevention Or any example of how you conserve the environment and its resources.Campaspe Shire Council would like to thank its waste contractor, Veolia, for sponsoring the competition with fantastic prizes in the following categories:
Individual or community group – submit a video or photos with a short story to win a cash prize of $300 Business – submit a video or photos with a short story to win a $400 advertising voucher School (individual student, class, group or school) – submit posters, artwork, stories or videos to win $500 for your school to put towards a sustainability project Runner up prizes will also be awardedEntries are now open and close on Monday, 29 October.
Everyone is welcome to attend the awards ceremony at the Campaspe Regional Library in Echuca at 7pm on Monday, 12 November, where the winners will be announced.
