- Ballarat Mayor, Samantha McIntosh

Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in our community.

Because of this substantial growth, we are committed to rolling out the largest ever investment in grass-roots level soccer.

This long-term commitment will improve soccer infrastructure across the municipality over the next four years.

One of these priority projects includes the Pleasant Street Reserve.

This reserve is one of the city’s most used training and competitive venues, but for such as long time a lack of lighting has limited the ability to utilise this space – particularly during our dark Winter months, creating a scheduling burden for those needing to use the reserve for training.

Today we would like to thank the state government for its contribution of $250,000 towards this important project.

The City of Ballarat will provide the balance of $500,000 to complete this project.

As a Council, we are committed to working with the state government, our community, sports teams and organisations to promote sport and active living in our region.

With our Active Women and Girls’ Strategy adopted earlier this year, it’s particularly pleasing to see that this project will benefit female soccer players.

We look forward to watching this exciting project take shape.
