Swifts Creek Caravan and Tourist Park has reopened for campers and caravanners after key infrastructure works and service upgrades undertaken by East Gippsland Shire Council.
The big change visitors will notice is the new amenities block, which includes separate female and male toilets and change areas, both with more shower and change area room than the previous building.
The amenities block also includes a laundry facility for campers along with a parents’ room to allow families with young children to use the toilet or shower without being separated or needing to choose either the female or male facilities. A wash area at the site barbecue for park guests and public use will also be added.
Council’s Director Development Paul Holton said the park is now accessible to all abilities and boasts 20 powered sites that have new power heads and grey water points.
“Campers can also enjoy fresh and flatter camping grounds and safer river access,” Mr Holton said.
“Council had a focus on not just improving infrastructure, but making the site safer and more user friendly following flooding and damage to the old toilet block.”
The total cost of the amenities block and power supply upgrades was approximately $400,000, completed by Council works crews. Council expects these improvements will give value for money and a better experience for visitors to the popular park year-round.
All booking enquires for the park are to be made at the Swifts Creek General Store.
