School holiday fun at your local library

School holidays are just around the corner and Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries have an action-packed program of events lined up to keep local kids entertained.

Kicking off on Tuesday 2 October and running through to Friday 12 October, there is something for everyone to get involved in!

Kids will be able to get up close and personal with bugs and reptiles at Bob Turner’s Wildlife Show as well as diving deep into the oceans with Emma Best from Newcastle Museum.

Local Artist Michele Heibel will also be running special beginner workshops on the technique of scratchboarding where kids will be able to scratch their own magical underwater world.

Another highlight will be a visit to Cessnock Fire Station where little ones will be able to meet real firefighters, learn about fire safety and of course, check out a real fire truck!

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is encouraging local parents, carers and children to get involved in activities in our libraries this school holidays.

“Our libraries are a fantastic place for children to learn a new skill, have fun and make new friends and there’s also plenty on offer for local parents too.”

Pick up a program at Cessnock or Kurri Kurri Libraries or download it online at libraries.cessnock.nsw.gov.au.

Places for these activities are limited, so avoid disappointment by booking ahead. For more information and to book your spot today, contact Cessnock Library on 4993 4399 or Kurri Kurri Library on 4937 1638.
