To ensure young residents are ready to safely hit pools and beaches this season, the City of Canada Bay is offering 50 per cent off swimming lessons at Cabarita and Drummoyne swimming centres, City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas today announced. “This year the City of Canada Bay is committing $10,000 in funding to support our Learn to Swim program,” Mayor Tsirekas said. “The money will fund a 50 per cent subsidy on offer to 126 children across our community in kindergarten to year one, or between the ages of 4-5 if they are not yet enrolled in school.”
The Learn to Swim program aims to give children water confidence and has proven successful in previous years with participation numbers growing alongside the introduction of the subsidy.
“This important program has taught life-long skills to our community’s youngest members, assisting their safety and awareness around water and pools.”
“Well over half of the children involved in this program have been placed in further swimming classes at our pools, which is a great indication of the success of this program,” Mayor Tsirekas said.
This offer is strictly limited and closes on 7 October 2018. For more information and to express your interest, contact Drummoyne and Cabarita swimming centres.
The City of Canada Bay encourages the community to explore and enjoy our extensive network of foreshore and water areas, while remaining vigilant about water safety.
