Digital art, coding and blow painting are among two weeks of free activities at the Armidale and Guyra libraries these school holidays.
Digital art workshops will be hosted by professional animator Danny Stanley, whose work includes comics, animation and murals. Participants at the sessions will work on iPads and learn fundamental skills in drawing and painting.
Armidale Library will also host two coding workshops. Learn how to make an animated story, or use software and hardware to build a watering system that responds automatically to its environment.
A series of blowing painting sessions at both libraries will teach children to make crazy characters and other creations using paint and a straw. The results are very colourful and more than a little zany.
An interactive storytime and craft session will be held at Armidale library, while Guyra library will host a collage workshop and an Odd Socks Day event to make sock puppets.
Free LEGO building sessions will be held on a number of days and Guyra Library will screen the children’s movie Sherlock Gnomes.
Further details are available on the Guyra and Armidale library service Facebook page.
Bookings are essential for a number of the workshops and can be made by contacting Armidale library on 6770 3636 or Guyra library on 6770 7123.
School holiday activities kick off with free skating workshops in Guyra, Tingha and Armidale from Wednesday 3 October. While the Armidale workshop has reached its cap of 20 participants, interested people can put their names on a reserve list and there are still spots for the Guyra and Tingha sessions.
