Councillor Ali Karnib was elected Deputy Mayor of Liverpool at the Council meeting on 26 September 2018.
Councillor Karnib replaces Councillor Tina Ayyad as Deputy Mayor and will serve in the role from September 2018 to September 2019.
“I am proud to be elected as Deputy Mayor and I look forward to the next 12 months,” said Councillor Karnib.
“In particular, I want to work with all councillors for the good of Liverpool.”
Mayor Wendy Waller welcomed Councillor Karnib back into the role he filled in 2016-17.
“Councillor Karnib has deep connections in the Liverpool community and I am sure he will make a valuable contribution to Council in the year ahead,” Mayor Waller said.
“He has been a tireless worker in the community and brings great experience in local government to the role, having been first elected in 1995. Councillor Karnib is also a very proud father and grandfather.”
“I would also like to thank Councillor Ayyad for her work over the past year as Deputy Mayor.”
