You might notice a huge difference to the Western Suburbs Swimming Pool at Unanderra when it reopens for the swim season on Saturday 29 September.

Over the winter months, Council has invested in renewing the ageing building. The Unanderra facility was constructed in 1977 and was ready for a refresh, said Wollongong City Lord Mayor Cr Gordon Bradbery AM.

The refurbishment works included:

Installation of a unisex accessible amenity including an adult change table Refurbishment of public amenities New energy and water efficient fittings and fixtures, including a water tank Replacement of roof sheeting and installation of ventilation

Cr Bradbery said: “This has been a significant investment to ensure the pool continues to provide a high level of service to the local community in and around Unanderra. The pool facilities have gone from basic to nice, tiled contemporary amenities that suit a modern swimming facility.”

The addition of an adult change table increases accessibility for people with disability and is the second adult change facility installed in a Council public facility in the area.
