At the Ordinary Council meeting held on 26 September 2018, Yass Valley Council appointed Sharon Hutch to the position of General Manager on a 4 year contract.
"Council undertook a full recruitment process with the assistance of McArthur’s Recruitment, and were thrilled with the high quality of applicants who applied for the position. Councillors have made a unanimous decision and are delighted with this appointment. We believe Sharon will bring a new level of commitment, stability and financial expertise to Yass Valley Council," said Mayor Rowena Abbey.
Sharon commenced employment at Yass Valley Council on 29 March 2016 on a temporary basis as Business Improvement Specialist. On 22 August she became the Director of Finance and Corporate. Sharon has been undertaking the role of Acting General Manager following the resignation in July of previous General Manager David Rowe.
Sharon has a long history of working in local government, fulfilling roles of Deputy General Manager at Broken Hill City Council, Manager of Finance at Gosford City Council and Manager of Community Development at Central Darling Shire Council. She has also served in financial management roles in the private sector and holds a Degree in Business (Financial Management) and is a member of CPA Australia

Sharon will officially commence in her new role from 27 September 2018.
