Making it easier to do business in the Yass Valley

Opening and running a café, small bar or restaurant in Yass Valley just got easier!

Supporting and growing the local business economy is a priority for Yass Valley Council. Council is delighted to partner with Service NSW and the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner to launch Easy to do Business in Yass Valley.

Through one online portal, those starting out in the industry will receive step-by-step guidance and support across local, state and federal government requirements, to open and grow their own business. Easy to do Business is free of charge and gives peace of mind by educating prospective business owners upfront about the time, fees and effort involved.

“Council is very pleased to partner with Service NSW and the Easy to do Business initiative to assist local business owners and those looking to establish businesses within the Yass Valley, navigate the processes in relation to opening a small bar, restaurant or café,” said Yass Valley Mayor Rowena Abbey.

With streamlined forms and one phone number to remove complexity when opening a café, small bar or restaurant, you can spend less time on paperwork and more time on your business. And, for added assurance, you will be supported by a dedicated personal Business Concierge through the process.

“Small business is the lifeblood of the Yass Valley economy, with 1,761 registered businesses in the local government area. In particular, we have seen an increase over the past few years of cafes and dining outlets, opening to support our growing food and wine sector, leading to a vibrant visitor economy and further enhancing the liveability of our region” said Mayor Abbey.

“We look forward to the continued rollout of industry sectors under this initiative and encourage anyone interested in opening a business in a participating sector to take advantage of this service.”
