The City of Ballarat today launched its online event calendar for Children’s Week 2018.
An annual event celebrated each October, Children’s Week 2018 will celebrate the theme Children’s views and opinions are respected and will be held from Saturday, 20 October to Sunday, 28 October.
The City of Ballarat’s online event calendar provides families with a user-friendly one-stop-shop to access essential information on the wide range of free and low-cost activities being held throughout the municipality for Children’s Week 2018.

Children’s Week is a national initiative that recognises and celebrates the important role children play in our communities, and the talents, skills, achievements, and rights of all children to enjoy childhood.
Highlights of this year’s Children’s Week include:
Bridge Mall Kids’ Carnival on Friday 19 October, from 3.30-5.30pm Fun Day at the Victoria Park Inclusive Playspace on Saturday 20 October, from 12.30pm Children’s author Michael Panckridge at Ballarat Library on Friday 26 October, with sessions at 11am and 1pm Family Day at the Ballarat Wildlife Park, with subsidised entry, on Saturday 27 October, from 10.30am-12.30pm YMCA FunSkate GymbaROO open day Lots of fun activities at Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, such as gymnastics, rock climbing, aquatic education and the pool inflatable Bread-making, pop-up playgroup, kite-making, a birds of prey show, teddy bears’ picnic, children’s sustainability workshop, BotaniKids nature-based activities and lots more!The City of Ballarat has a long-standing history of investing in the early years and is also a signatory to the Victorian Child Friendly City Communities Charter.
The City of Ballarat has been involved in Children’s Week since 2004, with the first event attracting about 30 parents and children in the Phoenix Building’s atrium, but now includes thousands of people enjoying a wide range of fun-filled events across the municipality.
