Droughtmaster feeder steers 276.2c at Blackall...

Blackall Combined Agents yarded 4024 head at Thursday’s weaner and  prime sale.

The market was strong in most categories with good drafts of feeder and weaner steers selling to a strong market. Good quality weaner heifers also met strong competition.

Cattle were sourced locally from Blackall, Tambo and Barcaldine along with consignments of cattle from Winton, Muttaburra, Aramac, Longreach, Boulia and Alice Springs.

Steers over 550kg sold to  255c, average 244.3c, steers 400-550kg made 268.2c, average 242.4c, steers 350-400kg reached  276.2c, average 262.2c, steers 280-350kg made 268.2c, average 247.6c, steers 220-280kg sold to 264.2c, averaging 234.7c,  and steers under 220kg sold to 272.2c, average 237.3c. Mickeys made to 232.2c, to average 187.3c.

Cows and calves made to $890/unit, averaging $657/unit.

Heifers over 450kg sold to 237.2c, averaging 236.8c, heifers 350-450kg made 237.2c, average 204.2c, heifers 280-350kg reached 223.2c, average 196.8c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 254.2c, averaging 212.2c, and heifers under 220kg made 252.2c, average 188.2c.

Bulls over 450kg made 219.2c, average 190.7c, and bulls under 450kg sold to 144.2c, average 142.6c.

Cows 300-400kg sold to 208.2c, average 111.1c, cows 400-500kg made 216.2c, average 169.6c, and cows over 500kg reached  226.2c, to average 195.9c.

GJ & JM Bambling, Glenavon, Aramac sold Brahman steers for 244.2c at 301kg to return $735/hd, also selling heifers for 220.2c at 246kg to return $541/hd. Huckitta Enterprises, Huckitta, Alice Springs sold Droughtmaster feeder steers for 276.2c at 383kg to return 1058/hd

DJ & LJ Bennett, Trent, Barcaldine sold 365kg Angus steers for 268.2c to return $980/hd. William Britton, Sandila, sold Hereford cross steers for 258c, averaging 334kg, making $864/hd.

Harry Glasson, Greenlaw, Yaraka sold Santa steers for 240c, averaging 330kg, making $792/head.  Bloomfield Pastoral Company, Bloomfield, Blackall sold 280kg Droughtmaster steers to a top of 251c/kg to return $704/head.  The 225kg heifers sold to a top of 254c to return $571/head.

BJ, KL, GR and JL Davison, Glendale, Blackall sold 239kg Angus cross steers to a top of 243c to return $582/head. Maranda Pastoral Company, Maranda, Barcaldine sold 175kg Charolais cross steers to a top of 256c  to return $457/hd.  They also sold 517kg Droughtmaster cross cows to a top of 215c to return $1113/hd.

St Elmo Pastoral Group, Antrim, Hughenden sold 292kg Angus cross steers to a top of 248c/kg to return $725/head. The Enniskillen Pastoral Co, Boongoondoo, Jericho sold 304kg Santa Gertrudis heifers for 188.2c to return $572/hd.

William Britton, Sandila, sold Hereford cross heifers for 223c, averaging 333kg, making $744/head. Will Gray, Rocklea, Barcaldine, sold 198.8kg Brangus heifers at 200c to return $398.09/hd, and 211.7kg Brangus steers at 238c to return $504.19/hd.

Paraway Pastoral Company, Malvern Hills, Blackall sold 328kg heifers to a top of 212c to return $697/head. Peter Hall, Rosevale, Julia Creek sold 265kg Charbray heifers to a top of 217c to return $576/head.

Neverfail Cattle Co, Kuringa, Blackall sold 350kg Charolais cross feeder heifers to a top of 217c to return $760/head.  They also sold 246kg backgrounder heifers to a top of 236c to return $582/hd.

R.J. Oldfield, Wandsworth, sold 670kg  Droughtmaster bullocks at 255c  to return $1708.5/hd. RS & AM Windsor, Innerdale, Blackall sold Brangus bullocks for 246c, averaging 558kg, making $1374/hd.
