Motorbike riders usually dress for comfort rather than style but that was not the case last weekend in Mount Isa. Over the weekend you may have seen bike riders dress up in their finest glad rags and all in very good cause. On Sunday the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride attracted 41 riders and despite its name it was open to women. SEE PHOTOS FROM THE DGR RIDE HERE The DGR is an Australian-born charity initiative where 90,000 participants globally donned vintage clothing and ride classic motorcycles to raise money for prostate cancer and men's mental health research. The Mount Isa ride raised over $6000 for the cause. It started from Outback at Isa and rode around town with a stop off at the Restored Car Club near the airport for refreshments before finishing up at the Overlander for lunch. Meanwhile a day earlier the local Harley Owners Group got in on the action. Around a dozen riders also dressed up in style as they went to Bedourie and Boulia for the long weekend. SEE PHOTOS FROM THE HOGS RIDE HERE Harley Owners Group chapter director Tony Moloney said riders were kitted up in their Sunday best in honour of the Queen on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. “We are going to Bedourie tonight (Saturday) then staying in Boulia tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday we’ll slowly come home,” Mr Moloney said. “The HOGs are going down to support those in drought and we’ll be donating to the P&Cs at Boulia and Bedourie”.
