Within the glowing stems of the Field of Light: Avenue of Honour a choral performance titled By Other Eyes will commemorate the centenary of Armistice on November 11.
Produced by the City of Albany’s Vancouver Arts Centre in conjunction with Matt Ward and the Vocal Performance Initiative and supported by West Australian Opera, By Other Eyes: The Armistice Day Choral Project will pay respect to those who served Australia in World War I and advocate for peace in the world and our communities.
Members of the community are invited to participate in the project as a singer, contributor of local stories, as a writer or as an event volunteer.
Creative Director Matt Ward said the choral project is an opportunity for him to work alongside the Great Southern community to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day.
“Singing plays such an important role in my life and I’m always thrilled when I get to share the joy of music and singing with others,” Mr Ward said.
“I’m thinking a lot about the theme of remembrance and what it’s like to be grateful for the sacrifices of the past and would absolutely love to extend an invitation to anyone to join us on the Armistice Day Choral Project.”
