Bayside residents are on track to receive updated facilities in Sandringham under a project that aims to create a place based community activity precinct.

The architectural firm Croxon Ramsay Pty Ltd was appointed at the September council meeting to spearhead the redesign of several key buildings.

The Sandringham Library and Sandringham Masonic Hall will both be redesigned, and the Maternal Child Health Centre will move into the updated library building.

Bayside City Council Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans said these upgrades showed council commitment to local infrastructure.

“The services provided at these sites are of tremendous value to the community”

“The redevelopments are an important step to meet future growth and improve the quality of programs on offer”

The Masonic Hall, a new purchase by Council, is conveniently located just across the road to the Library and current occupants of the library will move into the hall, allowing expansion of the library.

“We know that the Sandringham Library has the second highest library patronage of the municipality and it’s clear that they need more space”

“This expansion will significantly increase floor space and help to meet demand. There will be more room for people to study, read and take part in library programs”

“Additionally, incorporating the Maternal Child Health Centre into the library building, but with separate street access will make all community services easily accessible”

The Masonic Hall will also undergo significant refurbishment to provide comfortable community space for its new tenants including the Sandringham Life Activities Club and the Historical Society.

“The architects Croxon Ramsay were selected from amongst heavy competition, but proved in their tender that they had a good understanding of the technical, timing and social requirements of the project”

“They have a wealth of experience in providing design services to local government projects, including here in Bayside”

“I look forward to Council working alongside them in delivering this new community activity precinct”

Croxon Ramsay Pty Ltd will consult with relevant stakeholders to ensure all designs are in-line with community expectations and provide all abilities access.
