Environmental education teachers have an opportunity to attend training locally that is usually only offered in metropolitan areas.
The training will be facilitated by Environment Education Victoria, the peak body for sustainability educators, and will focus on best practice sustainability in primary and secondary schools.
ResourceSmart Schools Coordinator Alison Taylor has organised the events.
“We want teachers in Gippsland to be inspired by best practice sustainability ideas that they can take back to their schools,” Ms Taylor said.
With drought and climate change featuring prominently in the media, this will be an opportunity not to be missed by teachers wanting to discover new and exciting sustainability ideas.
Sessions will be held as follows:
Sale on Wednesday, October 17 at Gippsland Grammar Junior Campus Bairnsdale on Thursday, October 18 at Nagle College. Both sessions run 9.30am-3pm.
All schools are invited to send a teacher. Schools undertaking the ResourceSmart Schools program are eligible to receive one funded replacement teacher from each school.
More places per school can be negotiated depending on availability.
The Bairnsdale session will include a tour of Nagle College’s revegetation work.
