The Change Maker Festival is a new initiative for the City that aims to bring together young people, 12 to 18 years old, who are passionate about their community. It was formed after the City identified the need to initiate leadership conferences for children, young people and young adults, giving them the chance to meet and discuss important ideas and to provide opportunities for advocacy. City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the festival represented a great opportunity for young people who wanted to have an impact in the world or were curious about becoming a change maker. "The City of Rockingham is home to some inspiring young people with fantastic ideas. The first ever Change Maker Festival is a great opportunity for them to become a voice for young people in the community," Mayor Sammels said. "Those who get involved with the festival will be able to join a community of likeminded people, receive training in advocacy, leadership and change-making as well as receiving the opportunity to be inspired by a number of entrepreneurial guest speakers." The Change Maker Festival will take place at the Gary Holland Community Centre from 10am–2.30pm on 9 October. For more information email [email protected] or phone 9528 0333.
