With over 700km of footpaths, Bayside is a pedestrian’s paradise.

In the 2018/2019 financial year, Council is spending almost $3.6 million to build and upgrade footpaths around Bayside.

This includes a significant investment to improve the footpath network around residential and open space areas to encourage walking as the preferred mode of transport within the municipality.

Other projects include upgrading the beach access path at Dendy Street Beach, improving the Bay Trail at Middle Brighton Baths and footpaths at Church Street Shopping Centre.

Footpaths are managed and maintained by Council in line with the Road Management Plan, which requires half-yearly or yearly inspections to ensure they are safe. The plan also sets out how quickly council is required to repair identified defects.

To assist in maintaining a pedestrian-friendly Bayside, we encourage all locals to report any defects in footpaths to us so that we can fix these issues as they occur.
