It’s hard to beat the annual Fisher’s Ghost Street parade for fun and excitement – and members of the community are invited to register to take part in this year’s event.
The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost Twilight Street Parade will be held on Saturday 3 November, starting at 7pm.
The 2018 parade has two themes: ‘Light and Life Under the Sea’ and ‘The legend of Fisher’s Ghost’.
Campbelltown City Council is inviting community groups, businesses, organisations, schools and sporting clubs to enter colourful and creative floats in the parade, and be part of the 10-day festival, which will be celebrated from 2 November to 11 November.
This year Council will hold free workshops at Campbelltown Arts Centre for participants to help with lighting up the parade.
The workshops will include light up lantern making.
Council will provide all materials and an artist will be on hand to help participants create their underwater masterpiece.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the street parade was a great way to celebrate the city’s community spirit.
“This year we’re starting at 7pm, which is a great opportunity to bring Queen Street to life with plenty of colourful lights on our floats,” he said
“Our two themes this year mean people can stick with a traditional ghostly tribute to the Fisher’s Ghost legend, or opt for a colourful ocean-going theme as mermaids, pirates and everything nautical.”
Applications to enter the street parade close on Wednesday 10 October.
Prize money will be up for grabs for best parade entries across a range of categories, including first and second overall, and best themed sporting team, performance group, wheels and hooves, community organisation or local club, cultural group, school, band, and youth band. Winners will be announced online during the festival.
