New clubrooms an ace for Bayswater community

The City of Bayswater tennis clubrooms are set to officially re-open this October after undergoing a complete rebuild in recent months.

The $1.4 million project, funded by the Australian Government, the City of Bayswater and the Bayswater Tennis Club has allowed for the much needed replacement of the previous clubrooms built in the 1930’s.

City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull thanked the Bayswater Tennis Club for their drive and vision in ensuring the project’s success.

“This is a community sports facility to be proud of, and I very much look forward to seeing the Clubs 1000 plus members making the most of its excellent features for many years to come.

“The Bayswater Tennis Club is one of the largest in the metro region, providing social and fitness opportunities for members of our community of all ages and abilities.

“The new clubrooms boast energy efficient additions including solar panels and an instant hot water system, fully accessible toilets and showers, a 200 person function suite that will be available for hire, players’ lounges, coaches’ and competitions offices and a fully equipped kitchen.  

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the Federal and State Government for making this project possible.”

Bayswater Tennis Club President Dan Kerrigan said the new clubrooms is just the start of new facilities at the club with the new hardcourts for junior coaching and competition to follow at the end of the coming summer grass playing season.

An additional $300,000 funded through the State Government Local Jobs Local People Grant will also assist the building fit out and allow for redevelopment of the playing courts, floodlights and accessible walkways.
