The set time for free Seniors Hour sessions at Gladstone Aquatic Centre will be slightly modified soon, enabling a smoother transition between programs and classes at the facility.

Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Chris Trevor said Gladstone Regional Council’s operators of the Gladstone Aquatic Centre, BlueFit, had discussed the proposal with the facility’s regular senior patrons.

“The Seniors Hour program offers free entry on weekdays to the Gladstone Aquatic Centre for our patrons aged over 60 years of age,” Councillor Trevor said.

“Implementing a new time for these sessions from 7.45am to 8.45am will improve the changeover between classes and programs at the centre and ease congestion for patrons.

“In addition, the minor time change will enable patrons to attend slightly earlier as our warmer weather approaches.”

Cr Trevor said the time change proposal had been carefully considered to offer as little inconvenience as possible to regular Seniors Hour attendees.

“The majority of patrons consulted by BlueFit were receptive to the proposal for the Seniors Hour session start and finish times to be brought forward by 15 minutes,” he said.

“The time change simply aims to improve operation efficiencies at the centre which ultimately offers benefits to all facility users.

“Patrons are encouraged to approach Gladstone Aquatic Centre reception and request a meeting with BlueFit staff if they have any concerns.”   The new Seniors Hour session times at Gladstone Aquatic Centre will come into effect from Monday, October 8.
