Rosedale residents are reminded that the Rosedale Landfill in Merton Vale Road will close permanently at 5pm on Monday, 29 October.

The decision to close the landfill was made at the ordinary council meeting on 4 September.

The Rosedale Landfill does not meet current Environment Protection Authority (EPA) or Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.

The Rosedale facility also has limited infrastructure to allow for the recovery of recyclables which means the majority of the waste simply goes into the landfill without being sorted and recovered for reuse.

Rosedale residents will be able to access the nearby Kilmany Resource Recovery Centre, which is a state-of-the-art facility with significant recycling and recovery resources.

The Kilmany facility also has walking floor technology that provides significant capacity to sort material and divert valuable resources away from landfill.
