The subsidy schemes include a Safety Subsidy Scheme, Home Modification or Assistive Equipment Subsidy Scheme, and an Information Technology Subsidy Scheme.
The Safety Subsidy Scheme is designed to help residents make their home safer and is open to residents aged 18 and over. The Home Modification or Assistive Equipment Subsidy Scheme and the Information Technology Subsidy Scheme are only available to seniors (aged 60 or over).
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said subsidies of up to $100 per scheme were available to eligible residents.
“The City is delighted to offer these three new subsidy schemes and encourages eligible residents to apply,” Mayor Sammels said.
“The Safety Subsidy Scheme could be used, for example, to help install smoke detectors and fire equipment. The Home Modification or Assistive Equipment Subsidy Scheme could be put toward the cost of installing walkers, dressing aids or ramps to help seniors manage their everyday tasks and remain in their homes for longer.
“The Information Technology Subsidy could be put toward the cost of purchasing a laptop, tablet or iPad to help seniors become more connected to friends, family, resources and information.”
Applications for the Subsidy Scheme are open all year round. Applicants are only able to apply for each scheme once per financial year.
