The announcement today that a re-elected State Government will commit $7 million to help redevelop the Wendouree West Recreation Reserve has been welcomed by the City of Ballarat.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh says redevelopment of the Reserve is a priority project for Council, one which will transform the area, and in doing so improve the health, well being and social outcome for local residents.
“City of Ballarat has lobbied for this project and we are extremely pleased that a re-elected Government will deliver a project for the people of Wendouree West which will include a new pavilion and community hub, new soccer pitches and lighting for night games, basketball, skate and BMX facilities.
“An initial component of this project was recently completed thanks to investment by the City of Ballarat and funding through the State Government Public Safety Infrastructure Fund; however there is still much works that needs to be done, which today’s commitment will make possible should the Government be re-elected in November”.
This is a hugely important project for the people of Wendouree West and on behalf of Council and those residents I thank the State Government for its promise to fund this project if re-elected.
