Omeo will be a hub of activity this weekend as hundreds of riders converge on the town for the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship.
This is the second time the town has hosted the enduro event, following on from a very successful showing last year.
East Gippsland Shire Council Mayor Cr Joe Rettino said the region was looking forward to the weekend.
“This was a fantastic weekend last year and council is very pleased to provide support for this exciting event,” Cr Rettino said.
Omeo is one of only six towns nationwide to host a round of these championships, which are a stepping stone to international competition.
“We are very lucky to be hosting the final round of the championship, so the stakes are high and the competition will be tough after riders have honed their skills all year. It will make for a fantastic spectacle all weekend and I am looking forward to it.” Cr Rettino said.
To catch the action follow the signs on Cassillis Road. Racing will be held on Saturday, October 6 from 8am to 4pm and on Sunday, October 7 from 8am to 2pm.
