Central Highlands Regional Council services across the region will be reduced on Thursday 18 October 2018 due to staff attending a whole of organisation meeting.
CEO Scott Mason said the day is a matter of bringing council staff from across the region together.
‘We have more than 500 people working together from seven offices, several depots, utility operations and in the field,’ he said.
‘Our workforce is spread across 60,000 square kilometres.
‘Thanks to technology many of our staff speak to and see one another daily, but there is only one day per year where we all get together face to face.
‘The day allows council staff to network and mingle and it allows us to talk about our goals and values and give feedback to each other.’
Council offices will be open, but a limited number of staff will be available for customer service transactions only. All other staff will be unavailable.
All libraries will be closed, except from Tieri and Rolleston transaction centres. The Emerald Library will be open from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
Lochlees landfill site and Rubyvale Sapphire transfer station will be closed.
Emerald transfer station will be closed between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm, but open an hour earlier at 6.00 am.
‘Council services will be disrupted on the day and I ask people to defer non-urgent matters until Friday 19 October when normal operating hours resume,’ Mr Mason said.
‘Urgent matters and emergencies will be responded to, please call 1300 242 686.’
Mr Mason thanks people for their understanding and allowing this important event to happen.
